This cool girl (p.s. is “Rain Maker” the name of some cool girl posse?) look is inspired by the irreverent, quirky aesthetic of one of my favorite designers, Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele. Like him, I love the effect of unconventional fashion combinations. For this outfit, I paired a feminine pleated midi skirt in a metallic shade and sky high mules with a sporty, campy even, silver bomber (the one shown here is sold out, but here is a similar style).
The look may be kind of out there for some people, but I like taking fashion risks once in a while. However, when I do, I pay attention to the details of my outfit. Here, the stripes on the bag that are very similar to those on the jacket, and the appliqué on the back of the jacket that picks up the copper color of the skirt pull the look together, while those oversized sunglasses add just the right touch of mystery to offset the outfit’s quirkiness. The result is a look that’s perfect for lunch or drinks al fresco with other Rain Makers at that trendy new bistro everyone’s talking about.
