Even though recent weather in the District would suggest otherwise, warmer days and nights will soon be upon us, which means it’s time to start thinking about dressing in lightweight fabrics and barely there footwear. I take an easy breezy approach to dressing in the spring and summer whenever I can get away with it, including date night at one of the trendy spots that are popping up around town.

This evening look combines several of my favorite warm-weather trends. Linen and raw silk are perfect for the heat because they breathe and they don’t cling, and loose-fitting clothing is obviously preferable to form fitting silhouettes. To keep the look from being too dowdy, I went with a predominantly black palette, and chose a top with a plunging neckline and trousers that I could roll up to expose those super sexy sandals (or these lower, but equally sexy ankle wrap sandals). The embroidery on the top and simple fabrics add an exotic “gypsy” touch, while the sky-high heels, gold jewelry and classic black quilted clutch provide the “jet set” anchor to this gypset (“gypsy-jetset”) look that I love.
