Camel & LBD Combo

Every girl’s go to for date night is a LBD, am I right? I picked this one up on a recent visit to the new & Other Stories boutique in Georgetown. I love the dress details like its flirty length, the deep-V neckline, the bell sleeves, and the exaggerated waistline with those cute covered buttons. I also love the fact that it cost me less than $100!

I love pairing feminine dresses with masculine outerwear (see a similar combo here) and lately my go-to has been this double-breasted camel coat (also a steal at around 100$). Camel and black work really well together, and the coat’s tailored silhouette gives the look an urban, sophisticated feel that would transition well from the office to happy hour.

Of course I had to throw in a few eye-catching, feminine details like leopard heels (similar here and here) and my favorite statement bag (similar bi-c0lor combo here and here). The outfit was perfect for my date night with hubby at Kinship, one of the most upscale casual spots in the District (if you haven’t been there yet GO and order the roasted chicken for two)!

Last week, I co-hosted a fashion show in Washington DC showcasing some really talented local designers, including Michelle Gibson.  I wanted to wear an original design for the show, and it was a no-brainer when I tried this dress on. I love the body-hugging style (luckily the one she had hanging in her studio fit me like a glove), and the faux leather fabric turns an otherwise classic silhouette into a modern, sexy look.

I wanted to look polished and professional for the show, so I topped the dress off with a slim-fitting jacket with a distinct “moto” feel.  I love these booties that fit like socks – such a slick look for day.  To turn this into an evening look for the event, I switched them out for a pair of cage booties like these and my favorite fishnet stockings.  A simple black shoulder bag with silver chains like this one kept the look simple, chic and edgy – my favorite combination for any outfit!
